FAQ

What are the different types of Ireland Student Visa?

  • The Ireland 'C Study Visa' is for study programs/courses that last no more than three months. Candidates should apply for a visa that covers their full stay in a foreign nation because it is quite rare that they will be allowed to extend this type of visa.

  • The 'D Study Visa' is for study programs/courses that last more than three months in Ireland. You need this visa to study your bachelors/masters/PhD.

What is Ireland Visa Fee and Charges?

Candidates who wish to apply for a long-stay D Study Visa in Ireland must pay €60 for a single 90-day entrance and €100 for repeated long-stay D Visa entries. The fees for the short-term C Visa are the same.

Applying for your Ireland Student Visa

The following are the instructions for applying for an Ireland Study Visa:

  • You have up to three months to apply for an Ireland Study Visa before your trip to Ireland. We strongly advise you to hold off on making trip plans until you have your visa.

  • As previously stated, candidates must complete their online student visa application on the Irish Immigration Service's official website.

  • Applicants for visas would have to fill out an online application form, attach supporting papers, and follow the directions on the summary application form issued by the system. Your application transaction number will also be listed on the summary application form. This is crucial because you'll need it later.

  • The summary application page will state if you must be present at the Visa Application Centre (VAC) to provide biometric data and submit your papers.

  • Following that, candidates must pay the Ireland Visa Application Fee.

  • The money receipt and an appointment confirmation receipt will be sent to your email address once you have finished the payment and appointment booking process. The receipts must be printed and brought with you to your appointment.

Can international students work in Ireland?

The Post-Study Pathways for International Students scheme allows legally resident third-level graduates from outside the EU to stay in Ireland and look for jobs or apply for a green card work permit.


A student can work full time, up to 40 hours per week, during their allowed stay.

What amount of funds are required to enter Ireland?

A student needs to show proof of EUR 7000 to get visa D approval.

Is there a study time limit in Ireland?

Non-EEA students can study in Ireland for a maximum of seven years. This requirement is waived for medical students, Ph.D. students, and those with unique circumstances such as illness.
